Are obstacles just inspiration? The threat of thunderstorms didn't stop the crowd from braving the chilly morning last Saturday. Those drops of rain had nothing on the magnetic energy West Seattle embodied as runners at Loop the 'Lupe stretched, warmed up, and got hyped for the race.

Running Together
Jake Schumacher and I ran five laps with the elite group before washing the mud off our hands to begin capturing the action of the event.

It really showed us what it means to be part of a community. From children to community elders, and every age in between, the support was undeniable at Loop the 'Lupe, led by the one and only Brian Callanan!
Pure Joy
It was hard not to smile from ear to ear when kids flooded the field laughing, screaming with joy, and tackling each obstacle like they're buckling into their favorite roller coaster ride.
Shared Challenges
Every obstacle presented a challenge for all generations, young and old alike. It puts into perspective what brings us together and what we all have in common. Running through an obstacle course with your community might be one of the best ways to connect and bond over a shared experience.
What's Next
More to come on this race. Events like Loop the 'Lupe remind us that community connection happens when we show up for each other, rain or shine. When people of all ages tackle the same obstacles together, something powerful happens.
There's real value in stepping outside, getting a little muddy, and experiencing the West Seattle spirit firsthand. These moments of shared challenge create bonds that last.
