I'm less and less interested in the corporate advice, the diplomatic way to approach a subject, and the fluff we add into our posts here on LinkedIn.
LinkedIn Needs More Mess and Less Polish
Relationships Carry Us When Everything Else Falls Apart
Our relationships are the one thing we can lean on, when the job gets lost, when our parents are in bad health, when kids are sick, and when it's time to turn a new leaf.
But so many of us try to put on a mask, disguising this world we work in as easy, fun, and overall enjoyable. When in fact, most days are really hard. The pressure to perform, to look like we have it figured out, keeps us from building relationships that can weather real storms.
Most Days Are Really Hard
We scroll through feeds filled with wins, promotions, and carefully crafted success stories. And we compare our messy reality to someone else's highlight reel.
The truth is, work is hard. Life is hard. Pretending otherwise doesn't make it easier. It just makes us feel more alone in the struggle.
Share the Real Deal
I hope LinkedIn can become more personable, more real, and frankly... messy. And it starts with YOU sharing the real deal.
When you show up honestly, you give others permission to do the same. That's how we turn our setbacks into something meaningful. That's how genuine connections form. Not through polished posts, but through the willingness to be seen as we actually are.
Drop the mask. Share what's really happening. Your vulnerability might be exactly what someone else needs to see today.
